Amini-Abecassis Labs

About

Our lab is a collaboration between Dr. Isaac Abecassis (a vascular neurosurgeon) and Professor Amir Amini (a mechanical engineer). We strive to investigate ways of using a special type of MRI (i.e. 4D flow MRI) to generate patient-specific models of disease, and replacing other invasive and time consuming imaging modalities. We also perform 3D printing of vascular structures in an effort to model both normal and disease states for further analysis. Finally, we use deep learning networks to enhance data and optimize spatial and temporal resolution in 4DFMRI.

Key Research Areas

  • 4DFlow MRI in idiopathic intracranial hypertension to estimate pressure gradients
  • 4DFlow MRI in intracranial aneurysms
  • Super resolution 4DFlow MRI
  • Computational fluid dynamics in arterial and venous disorders
  • 3D printed models to simulate disease in arterial and venous disorders
