About

We are advancing the future of manufacturing through research and innovation in advanced manufacturing technologies and systems. Our work is focused on additive manufacturing (3D printing), with particular expertise in metal-based processes. Leveraging strengths in thermal and fluid sciences, solid mechanics, metrology, surface engineering, and materials analysis, we develop solutions that improve process modeling, simulation, monitoring, and quality control. From feedstock evaluation to finished-part characterization, our research helps drive greater precision, performance, and reliability in next-generation manufacturing.

Current Focus

  • Powder-Bed Fusion Metal Additive Manufacturing
    • Pore Formation Mechanism
    • Transient Thermo-fluid Behavior
    • Surface Modeling and Analysis

Key Research Areas

We apply our expertise in thermal and fluid science, solid mechanics, metrology, surface engineering, material analysis to study process modeling and simulations, process measurement and monitoring, and feedstock and part characterizations, etc.
